Lessons and Classes ***Enroll for Early Childhood Music Class, Infants 0-18 months, by September 30*** ***Class begins Thursday, October 7, at 1:00 pm*** Music & More offers a variety of lesson and class choices to meet many student needs. Classes are held when there is enough student interest to form a class. Music & More students may participate in a variety of activities through the Brazos Valley Music Teachers Association. Activities available during the fall include the Theory Test, Hymn Festival, and Ensemble Festival. Activites during the spring include the Theory Test, Piano Solo Festival, and the Focus Festival.  Description of Studio Offerings PRIVATE PIANO LESSONS: Piano lessons are open to students age four and older, subject to showing signs of readiness. Students receive individual instruction in piano technique, note reading, ear training, and music theory. The Brazos Valley Music Teachers Association holds events throughout the year that are open to students of member teachers. Some of these events include the theory test, hymn festival, and solo festival. Students are encouraged, but not required, to participate in these and other festivals and performances. PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS: Voice lessons are open to students age twelve and older.  Students receive individual instruction in voice technique, note reading, music theory, and sight singing.  Students sing a variety of types of music.  Song selections are based on vocal needs and student interest. MUSIC FUNDAMENTALS: This class is available to home school students and is similar to general music classes taught in the public schools. Topics include singing, instruments, note reading, movement, music theory, composers, and music games. This is a great foundation for life or for in-depth study of an instrument. It is also a great way to enrich the experience of private lessons. VOICE CLASSES: Voice classes are open to children, age 8-12. Students receive instruction in proper voice technique  and music reading as they learn a variety of songs. This class is perfect for the child who wants voice lessons but is too young for private instruction. THEORY CLASSES: Theory classes are open to anyone interested in learning music theory. Because content gets progressively more difficult, students are required to advance through each class or demonstrate prior theory skills. Students learn concepts through lecture, practice, and playing games. Early Childhood Music Class: Early childhood music classes provide an enriching musical environment for young children and their caregivers. Children birth to age five experience music through listening, moving, singing, and creating music with the help of their caregiver. Classes are based on the First Steps in Music curriculum by John M. Feierabend. Classes also include activities based on the theories and methods of Edwin Gordon, Zoltan Kodaly, and Carl Orff. Early music experiences influence a child's lifelong music potential.
